This museum and the collection are amazing. It was exactly what I was looking for. I am from Florida, I wanted to learn about the African American experience in Arizona and their collection delivered. I was particularly moved by the Travelling Mercies exhibit....simple but very powerful ideas. With that said, the administration of the museum is a 0/5 ABSOLUTLY HORRIBLE. I arrived to a locked door, even though I arrived in the middle of business hours. A note on the door provided a number to call. I called and no one answered. I called back, no one answered. About that time other guests exited the museum, so I went in. My experience with the traveling mercies exhibit was interrupted by the Staff member saying he was about leave and lock up. So I left. As I left there were several other people trying to access the museum. The staff turned them away, the lady mentioned she'd traveled from North Carolina. She also called the number posted on the door and could not get an answer....this was very much disappointing( he was behind a closed door in the building, just not responsive). But the museum is a wonderful tribute to the life of G.W. Carver and the legacy of the school in the Phoenix community.

Visiting the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center was a deeply enriching experience. The museum beautifully preserves and celebrates African-American history and culture, offering a powerful blend of education and inspiration. Each exhibit tells a story—whether it’s about groundbreaking achievements, cultural heritage, or community impact—and the presentations are thoughtful and engaging.
The museum staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, making the visit feel personal and informative. I was particularly impressed by the interactive displays and the focus on both historical context and contemporary relevance. It’s not just a museum—it’s a cultural hub that encourages reflection and learning.
If you’re in the area, this museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, culture, or the incredible legacy of George Washington Carver and the broader African-American community. Truly inspiring!

I absolutely enjoyed this museum. There is so much history, the Director was so knowledgeable and excited that it added to the tour. I WILL go again

It was inspiring and featured great information on the history of Black people's plight in this country. Also, reading the history on display regarding George Washington Carver and all he has contributed to America was great. I recommend anyone who enjoys knowing about historical events must visit this museum.
